The Presence of God in Your Life

Hi! I am looking for volunteers to help me write my next book. My plan is to write a book about spiritual practices for ordinary, busy people and would like to do so from the experiences of a diverse group of people.

Starting after the holidays, the group would meet Wednesdays 7-8 pm via zoom, but you’d need to be able to set aside 20 min a day where you can get alone to try whatever practice we are learning that week.

Email me at disorderlyparables@gmail.com if you are interested. These will be Christian practices, but you don’t necessarily have to be a Christian. You will need a strong desire to experience the presence of God in your life.

  1. I would love to take part in this. I am a bit disorganized in this area of my life, as I am in every other aspect of my life. I’m a disorderly person. I participated in a group that learned about and tried out various forms of prayer, which was very interesting. I participate in an online Bible study with a theme for the year. That is a zoom meeting with the same small group every week. I am trying to read about different parts of the Bible I’m less familiar with. This year, the study focuses on the Old Testament; the stories of Jehoshaphat, and his descendants. One habit I have formed when reading the Old Testament is to research the Jewish scriptures and commentary, especially the commentaries by rabbis which are basically ‘what if’ stories and I know there’s a special name for them but it’s not coming to mind. I find it helps me to broaden my ideas and read the verses with fresh eyes, without assuming I already know what they mean and has really given me a very different appreciation of the OT. I hope I will be able to participate in your study! (I enjoy your books very much).

      1. Great! Thanks! marylynne1@gmail.com I am very excited. In a book I’ve been reading it says we often come to Scripture thinking we already know what it says, at least subconsciously and I think it’s true. I think this would be a good way to broaden my scope and shake up my thinking.
