Notice how people and spirits trip and fall on each other in these verses…
And the prodigal son (who had disrespected his father and squandered his inheritance) arose, and came (home) to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. (Luk 15:20)
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word. (Act 10:44)
In both cases, the words “fell on” mean “to hug.” Not just any hug, but a great big bear hug. The son comes home and the father hugs him! People want to follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit hugs them!
Can you feel the Holy Spirit giving you a great big bear hug right now? Let yourself go there … bask in the love of the Spirit … feel comforted, supported, loved just the way you are!
