I am blogging a daily meditation for the participants (and others!)
of my class on St. Francis…
Meditation Three:
The Bible is full of stories of men and women who were mocked, stoned, and beaten for following Jesus. The children cried, “Pazzo! Pazzo!” (Madman! Madman!) when they saw St. Francis. The adults joined them and threw stones and flung mud.
Are you following Jesus in such a way that people notice or do you hide that you belong to Christ?
St. Francis stuck out because he lived differently, dressed differently, and refused to enter into the social contracts that interfered with his commitment to follow Jesus.
Ask God how God is calling you to live.
April describes herself as a Red Letter Christian who writes about scripture and spiritual disciplines. See her latest book, James in the Suburbs: The Disorderly Parable of the Epistle of James. Great for an individual read or group Bible studies! You can follow her blog by clicking on the three dots in upper right hand of this page and scrolling down.
